EXPERIENCE

PRINCETON UNIVERSITY ART MUSEUM, Princeton, New Jersey
Student Outreach & Programming Coordinator,
September 2016 – Present 

  • Create strategies for integrating the Museum and its collections into the life of every Princeton student, including managing the Student Advisory Board, Student Tour Guide program, student volunteers, and partnerships with other student organizations.
  • Train, evaluate, and supervise 60 student volunteers annually.
  • Assist with the Museum’s summer internship program including planning weekly lunches with Museum and University staff, coordinating field trips and team building activities.
  • Develop, plan, implement, and promote over 100 Museum programs annually including panel discussions, artist talks, film screenings, tours, performances, and large-scale community events. Programs are designed to attract a diverse audience and serve over 25,000 people per year.
  • Manage education program budget.
  • Collaborate across academic departments to develop and promote interdisciplinary programs.

  • Direct and manage the development, operations and growth of all contemporary art and humanities education programs for adult, teen, youth and family audiences including gallery education tours, professional development for art educators, docent program, internship program, mentor program, lectures, film screenings, art-making workshops, panel discussions, artist talks and performances.
  • Oversee Community Engagement Programs including seven programs that serve over 250 people from marginalized communities, with special needs and seniors annually. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with 35+ community organizations, social service agencies and schools.
  • Manage department budget. Hire, train, evaluate and supervise 20 contracted employees and volunteers.

Accomplishments:

  • Served over 3,000 people through exhibition-related and public programs.
  • Reached over 4,000 Pre-K – 12 students from New Jersey public, private and charter schools.
  • Received grant funding to expand successful art education partnership with Elizabeth, New Jersey Public Schools that initially served 300 high school students and 65 art teachers to include 400 eighth grade students.

  • Assisted with the coordination and execution of education programs including “Summer Art Camp” and “Art After Hours.” Marketed programs and special events on social networking sites, maintained database of member information and conducted mailings.

  • Planned public programs including “A New York State of Mind Quilt Contest” and “The Conference on New York State History.” Performed community outreach, wrote blog posts, maintained database of presenters and participants, processed registrations and booked vendors.

  • Coordinated and implemented interdisciplinary education programs for students with special needs. Activities included art-making, dancing and singing. All programs were aligned with New York State education standards.

NEW YORK PUBLIC LIBRARY, New York, New York
Education, Programs and Exhibitions Intern, June 2009 – August 2009

  • Researched and developed the traveling photo panel exhibition, Berenice Abbott’s Changing New York, targeting K – 12 audiences.
  • Created education materials for the Research Libraries Educational Outreach Program, including reproductions of primary source documents and discussion questions.
  • Assisted with the coordination and development of the “Summer Seminar for Teachers,” a week-long professional development course designed to introduce NYC teachers to the Library’s collections.

  • Collaborated with curatorial staff to develop education materials for the exhibition, America’s Rome: Artists in the Eternal City, 1800 – 1900. Materials included an introduction panel and exhibition labels.

  • Assisted in implementing cultural and science programming for adult and family audiences including exhibition-related programs, science classes and lectures. Oversaw quarterly public programs calendar, prepared requisitions for payment, organized travel arrangements for presenters, and coordinated with other departments to execute programs.
  • Provided administrative support to the Director of Public Programs.
  • Coordinated large-scale annual event, “Identification Day,” with over 1,500 people in attendance.

Contributed as part of a team to coordinate the Margaret Mead Film & Video Festival. Managed database containing film, filmmaker and member information, performed community outreach, and created program handouts and brochures.
